Gabriela Adonis

Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist

Gabriela Adonis, LCMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who leads her practice with compassion, empathy, and inspiration.

She holds a Bachelor's in Psychology from Towson University and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Gabriela has over nine years of experience working with individuals and families, beginning with four years supporting children and families from low-income, high-conflict backgrounds. She later practiced at a group private practice for over three years, specializing in anxiety, self-esteem, stress management, and life transitions. Gabriela also has a passion for perinatal care, supporting clients through pregnancy and postpartum. Her approach draws from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapies, fostering a safe, accepting space for growth.

As a clinician, Gabriela's professional goal is to support clients in creating long-lasting solutions by tapping into personal strengths, discovering and integrating positive lifestyle habits, and encouraging the consistent reinforcement of these resources. She finds it imperative for clients to recognize that we are ever-evolving as individuals, and that we all have the capability to gradually reach the desired versions of ourselves.

She is licensed in both Maryland and Virginia.

In her personal life, Gabriela is a proud wife and passionate girl mom, an avid Harry Potter fan, and Peloton enthusiast. She has lived experience as a biracial, Latinx, and neurodivergent individual.

Individual Therapy

Many of us were not given the tools to know how to navigate everyday stressors such as responsibilities, time management, or negative emotions. Or maybe we don't feel equipped to handle the inevitable obstacles that are a part of life like relationship conflict, parenting, and low self-esteem.

Whether you need a small dose of support to reinvigorate yourself, or a complete set of new tools to remodel your life: Therapy can provide the opportunity and space to nurture this growth.

Individual Therapy is offered to adults who are feeling ready, or even curious, to embark on this journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why does someone go to therapy?

Therapy can start when an individual feels there are areas in their life or within themselves that could use support, change, or improvement.

  • What would we do in sessions?

In each session, the client will select a topic to begin exploring or continue with, based on the specified needs and areas of interest. The clinician may offer options if the client feels unsure of what direction to go in. At times, "homework" or practice may be encouraged outside of session so that the client can become familiar with utilizing new resources independently.

  • How long would I have to stay in therapy?

Length of treatment is different for each individual, based on the specific goals or areas that feel important to focus on. Oftentimes, addressing one topic can open up a door to another area that could use support as well. As one progresses through treatment, this can be reassessed and determined, as needed.

  • How often would I attend therapy sessions?

When starting therapy for the first time or addressing significant topics, it is recommended to start sessions on a weekly basis; this allows an individual to more actively address issues. Less frequent sessions can be more appropriate for issues that may not feel as urgent, or as progress is being made and less support is needed.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Adonis Therapy and Wellness is currently in-network with numerous insurances that vary by state. We also accept out-of-network clients and self-pay. Please see our Insurance & Fees section for more information.

  • Do you offer in-person sessions?

Appointments are only offered online via a HIPAA-Compliant video platform.

We look forward to evolving with you.
